Family Bender

Paul Bender ran the Adler pharmacy at Ring 29. He and his wife Rosa had at least two sons, Heinz and Rudolf. Paul Bender was the first Jew who left Guttentag just after the Nazis came into power. In August 1933 he sold his building, pharamcy and the licenz for the pharmacy to the family Faber.

They paid 120.000 GM but only 25.000 RM were paid directly. The rest was secured by a mortgage with an interest rate of 5 % pa. The family Faber later said that interest and repayment were paid as agreed. In 1945 the remaing debts were 31.000 RM.

It was also not asked how the remaing debt was handled between the partiers. The Lastenausgleichsamt didn’t also try to find Paul Bender.
